LN 1501 Marion, IN 4-11-1980

An eastbound ELCO Conrail freight with L&N U25C 1501 on the point sets out some cars onto the north siding of the Red Key at 38th st. before continuing on toward Columbus Ohio on April 11, 1980. Back then, this train would travel down the Marion Branch to Marion, then make a left turn onto the ex PRR Pan Handle line and take it the rest of the way to Columbus. This train would get rerouted across the Chicago line and down the Toledo Branch to Columbus after the Pan Handle was abandoned in 1985. Kevin Nelson photo with permission
