Conrail freight at South Amboy, NJ. GP-10 #7048, with freight heading east (south) and is going to old Raritan River Railroad trackage. August 21, 1980. South Amboy, NJ was a great place to watch & photograph the engine change from electric (GG-1) to diesel (E-8) back in the day.  The occasional  freight was always a treat to see, since this old New York & Long Branch trackage was mainly a passenger route to the Jersey Shore. The building in the background is the old Raritan River Railroad general offices.
