In a scene that could be 1968 if not for the black paint and white numbers, GG-1 4872 led Keystone-laden coaches into South Amboy station in March, 1978. As the catenary ends in South Amboy, an NJDOT ex-CNJ GP-40P and a PC E-7A will soon replace the GG-1 to carry the train onward.
CR retired their freight fleet of GG-1's in 1979, but the NJDOT-contracted GG-1's 4872-4884 saw their operating days extended to the fall of 1983.
