View looking east of Conrail's Chicago Line at Whiting, IN. This was formerly Lake Jct., an interlocking built by Penn Central to connect the former PRR with the former NYC. After Conrail abandoned the PRR through East Chicago in 1978, all through traffic shifted to the NYC alignment east of this location.
