For a number of years, I had wanted to get up the the former B&A. Finally, I had the opportunity in 1987. I was not disappointed. The scenery in the Berkshires was beautiful and there was plenty of access to the east side of Washington Hill. Not a gate nor a "No Trespassing" sign to be seen. We camped along the railroad a couple nights without a problem. The fog was starting to lift, west of Chester, MA on June 13th, as westbound manifest MBSEX struggled upgrade, led by C30-7A No. 6568. Sadly, I didn't get back until 1994, and by then the area was gated and signs posted.
