CR-operated NJDOT GG-1 4880 rests outside the South Amboy engine facility ready for another run North from South Amboy in July, 1978. This unit had a few more years of heavy service remaining in North Jersey.
CR retired their freight fleet of GG-1's in 1979, but the NJDOT-contracted GG-1's 4872-4884 saw their operating days extended to the fall of 1983.
