In one of the odder moves of the time, in October and November of 1984 several dozen locomotives from the Enola storage lines were moved to Reading, PA for storage inside the former Reading Co. freight car shop. Models I photographed included GP9, GP30, GP35, GP40, SD40, SD45 and U23B's. Here are ten SD40's that were waiting to be placed in the shop building. They only did this one time and all of the units either returned to the Enola storage lines or active service in the Spring of 85.
