Conrail Ex-Erie Lackawanna E-8 #4014 at South Amboy, NJ on New Jersey Transit. South Amboy is where the venerable GG-1's would transfer their New York passenger trains for the trip to Bay Head, NJ. On the return trips, the E-8's would transfer their train to the GG-1 for the trip to NY Penn Station in New York City. I saw many power swaps at South Amboy from the early 1970's to the end of the GG-1 and E-8's in the 1980's. The 4014 is coupled to the ex-Penn Central E-8 #4328 and is waiting for the train from NYC on August 18, 1978.
