Here, GP30 2187 and U28C 6824 with a crooked can opener pass the remains of the Reading Brewery eastbound leaving Reading, PA in April 1980. In the spring of 1979, they replaced many ties at this location. Tie replacement at the time involved first cutting the tie in half, then removing it. In September of 1979, CWR was installed and new ballast dropped. Conrail was a bit slow on the tie removal and completing final resurfacing of the track. They would finally finish up during summer of 1980.
