In railroading, history can often be measured in layers of paint. All 3 owners of this GP-38-2 are represented on this unit- The "PC" worms in love logo as well as some PC black is visible under that Conrail blue paint, and the number itself tells us this is now property of Norfolk Southern. NS 5302 was Conrail 8117, and Penn Central 8117 before that. This unit has been painted since I took this photo and wears yet another coat of black, this time for NS. Cresson , Pa October 28th, 1999.
