Class G43 and subclasses

Tangent Scale Models now produces an excellent HO scale model covering the four G43 subclasses.

Class G43

The G43 class was by the PRR at Altoona PA in 1966 as PRR 387326-387925. 510 cars carried their PRR number to CR becoming CR 578209-579259. These cars were renumbered around other G43's that had recieved their PC number which carried over to its CR number. 82 cars got renumbered by PC becoming PC 578150-578743 then CR 578150-578743. This group also had some ex NYC 120G class gons renumbered into open slots as well. As some G43s were either retired or renumbered into the 600000 series for coil service, CR started to renumber ex RDG GR52C class gons into vacated numbers.

Class G43A

The G43A class built by PC at their Altoona Shops in 1968 as PC 576000-578149. Cars would then become CR 576000-578149. Some cars have been renumbered into the CR 579801-579994 series as well as the CR 600000 series for steel coil loading only.

Class G43B

Originally built as PC 564450-564949 by Altoona in 1969. Cars became CR 564450-564949. Some cars renumbered into CR 579752-579799 & 585250-585267 series for general service. Other cars renumbered into 600000 series for steel coil loading only.
