Doug Davidson's Midwest Conrail action

Doug captured Conrail action outside of the Chicago area all over the Midwest in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and the rest of Illinois.  Those shots are included inside this album. 

AC Tower Marion, OH 9-1-1994

Conrail's Marion Tower, aka AC Tower, guarded the crossings of the combined Erie Lackawanna / Big Four with the C&O and the N&W (former PRR). This tower now sits across the tracks fully restored next to the depot. Doug Davidson photo with permission

CR 21276 at Bryan, OH

CR 3338 at Fort Wayne, IN 6-1988

The signal bridge seen just behind the engines was torn down in the early 90's. This location used to be known as Wabash during the PRR and early PC days. It was renamed Mike by the PC in 1971 or 72. The tower was torn down in late 1988 and the entire interlocking was rebuilt around 1991. The diamond was removed and the mainline(which was single track by then) crossed the NS on a series of cross over switches. NS now controls this interlocking and uses it quite frequently for their Triple Crown trains entering or leaving its nearby facility.

CR 5070 at Moorepark, MI

Conrail local WDTH-2 with CR 1685 and 3272 is in the clear for the northbound INGR-A led by B40-8 5070 and a GP15-1 heavy with auto parts on the Kalamazoo Secondary near Moorepark, MI, in June 1993. This location is a couple miles north of CP Park(which is obviously named for Moorepark) where the Kalamazoo Branch ends and the Kalamazoo Secondary begins. As can be seen by the position light signal in the background, this is a former PRR route, used between here and Terre Haute, IN before switching back to ex NYC trackage to continue its journey toward Indianapolis.
