North Jersey is home to a myriad of rail operations, and is one of the few locations where Conrail still exists.

Feels like home again pulling the Southern Crescent for two ex-SR E-8A's except that they are no longer south of the Mason Dixon line, but are in New Jersey!

Now with CR operations for NJT, E-8A's 4330 (ex-SR 6914) and 4331 (ex-SR 6907) pull nine cars near South Amboy in June, 1980.

After ex-SR CEO Stanley Crane removed passenger operations from the Southern Railway in 1978, the former Southern Crescent-assigned E-8A's now pull for CR's contract passenger operations in New Jersey. 

With NJT numbers 4330 and 4331 and worn paint, the former pride of the Southern pull nine cars near South Amboy in June, 1980.

Following years of service for the Southern Railway, the E-8A's would operate n NJ from 1980 until their retirment in 1982 as part of CR's NJT contract passenger operations.

After removing the cash-draining passenger operations as Southern Railway's CEO in 1978, Stanley Crane oversaw both the retirement of the former pride of the Southern's E-8A's in 1982, and the eventual ending of CR passenger operations on NJT in 1983.

The pride of the Southern Railway's Southern Crescent has come to rest at Elizabethport, NJ for retirement in April, 1983. Ex-SR E-8A 6904, with NJ Transit number 4332, joined CR's contracted ex-PC E-8A fleet in 1980.

To supplement CR-contracted ex-PC E-units, NJ Transit leased NTSB E-8A 210 (ex-Amtrak 210, nee-B&O 1463) until May, 1981. The E-unit receives service alongside repainted ex-PC E-8A's at the South Amboy engine facility in August, 1979.
