Conrail's Lehigh Line

The Conrail Lehigh Line most people are familiar with is the link between Bethlehem, PA and Oak Island Yard in Newark, NJ utilizing a mixture of former Lehigh Valley and CNJ trackage. However, the Lehigh Line/Lehigh Secondary also extended north into the former Anthracite country of PA, running through Jim Thorpe and Sayre, eventually reaching a connection with the Southern Tier in New York.

Here, ex-L&HR 2072 is lined up with LV 7643 and CR 7610 at the Bethlehem engine terminal.

CR 2804 on SEPY2 at Hillside, NJ 12/2/83

A trio of four axle GE's lead SEPY west through Hillside in December 1983. The SEPY ran from Selkirk to the RF&P's Potomac Yard in Alexandria, VA. The train ran on the NEC from Meadows Yard to Landover, MD until the early 80s when it was rerouted down the former LV and RDG trackage between North Jersey and Philadelphia. Under this new routing these trains entered the NEC at ARSENAL, located just south of 30th Street station in Philly.
