This gallery features photos in and around the Conrail Juniata shops, the railroads main locomotive repair facility. While operated by the PRR, it was once the largest locomotive shop in the world.

The large lineup of former PC GP7 5874, GP40 3123, GP38-2 7955, GP35 2271, and ex-EL GP7 1242 (CR 5980) show the continuing ill state of the power plant after a year of CR operations.

CR 6095 is seen along WE 1745 inside the Juniata Shops in Altoona PA during Railfest on 10/5/97. The W&LE SD45 was in for contract work at the time due to multiple problematic issues.

Conrail SD45 6127 (ex-PC 6127, nee-PRR 6127) is sitting behind the Juniata E&M Shop along with GP38 7802 (ex-PC 7802) in 1981. The unit in fresh blue paint appears to be another GP38, looking like a modeler's unfinished project with the masking tape still applied to its windows.

Former EL SD45-2 3669 (CR 6654), awaits service outside the Juniata locomotive shops in August, 1977. The first of EL's last 1972-purchase of power in series 3669-3681, shows the beginnings of removing EL roots. The EMD 3,600hp unit also is receiving service to her HT-C trucks.

In April, 1977, LV SW-8 260 worked the Bethlehem yard coupled to multiples of sister SW-8's.

At the Juniata shops in July, 1978, however, a renumbered CR 8674 appears to have seen her last operating days.
