4-bay Open Hoppers

Starting in 1994, Conrail began constructing a fleet of new H2 class 4-bay open hoppers at the Hollidaysburg Car Shops. This program continued with the H2B and H2C classes until the end of Conrail.

Class H2

This class of hoppers were built by Conrail at their Hollidaysburg, PA car shops in the mid 1990's

CR 470089- Class HG7B

Seen here is an ex-Illinois Central Gulf woodchip hopper that Conrail acquired a series of and used in coke service. This group of cars was sold off to CSX in 1994.

Brand-new class H2C hopper NYC 498837 is in train UCH-274 at Lilly, PA on 8/19/98.

Brand-new class H2C hopper NYC 498872 is in train UCH-274 at Lilly, PA on 8/19/98.
