Foreign Power on Conrail - Page 2

Occasionally, power from other roads would venture on CR's rails. Run-through power from western roads could be seen on interchange trains at Yards like Elkhart and Avon, while power from CSX and NS could be found on interchange trains to and from Selkirk and Allentown.

With all the leased power passing through Enola between May to July, 1977, it wasn't unusual to see CN, CNW, SP, or Sante Fe units.

However, an ancient AT&SF F-7B in Warbonnet lettering set apart alone, was quite a surprise.

B&A Foreign Power day 1/29/94. (01)

Foreign power was an occasional visitor to the B&A during ConRail's tenure but, the sheer number of visitors on this day was exceptional, in my experience. Here, TV-9 is led by CR 6636 and one each of NS and SF units passing MP 139 in Hinsdale, MA. at 09:20 on the morning of Jan. 29, 1994.

TV-9 going away down the tangent across the Hinsdale flats and a little better look at the "outlanders", NS U23B 3931 and SF B23-7 63x5, couldn't read that third number.

BAR 68 Cleveland, OH 08-20-1976

There is quite the eclectic mix of power at the former Erie E55th St facility in Cleveland,Ohio this August 1976 day. The EL C-424 is on home rails, but the Penn Central FP7 (note lift rings), the Lehigh Valley GP-18, and the far from home BAR geep are new visitors to this Conrail yard. The base of the old steam era water tank still stands in this shot, but today all tracks seen here are gone. EL 2414 would become CR 2488 and spend a lot of time down in Youngstown.

BAR 79 Conway, PA 8-8-1977

Late in the day at Conway in August, 1977, leased BAR GP9 79 waits for another assignment.

BAR 79 Kent, OH 02-05-1977

A holdover from the PRR days, the lease of BAR power during the winter lasted into Conrail's first years. Here BAR 79, two ex EL C424's, and a former PC GP38 work the former EL yard in Kent, Ohio. The one EL 424 has already received it's CR number.
